Synchronize Data

After comparing data, you can synchronize the records so that they are the same. You can synchronize individual records or all records in the database. You can also select which database is the target, regardless of the order selected in the compare.

Notes:

To synchronize data

  1. Select the checkbox beside each pair of objects you want to synchronize in the Result pane.

    or

    Click in the Synchronize column to select all rows. 

  2. Select a table row in the Result pane to display data differences in the Details pane.

  3. Clear the checkbox beside any rows of data you do not want to synchronize in the Details pane.

  4. Click on the Data Compare toolbar.

  5. Review the following for additional information about the Select Synchronization Direction page:

    Synchronize data in the following direction

    Select the direction of the synchronization from the options. The color of the database icon correlates with the color of the database name listed.

    Generate SQL script only for

    Select this checkbox to synchronize only a portion of the data, then enter the amount and select one of the following options:

    • Percent from top—Generates a script beginning at the top of the database until it reaches the set percentage.

    • Records from top—Generates a script beginning at the top of the database until it reaches the set number of records.

    • Each N record—Generates a script for every Nth record. For example, if you select 12, a script is generated for every 12th record in the entire database.

  6. Complete the wizard.
