You are here: Edit SQL > Find and Replace > Perform Incremental Searches

Perform Incremental Searches

Use incremental searches to locate multiple characters or words in the Editor. For example, if you have a SQL statement that contains the following terms: hob, hobby, and hobbit, you can enter each letter until the search narrows to the correct term.

To perform an incremental search

  1. Select Edit | Find and Replace | Incremental Search from the menu.

  2. Place the cursor at the location you want to begin searching and enter the characters you want to search.

Tip: Press ESC to exit an incremental search.

To perform a reverse incremental search

  1. Select Edit | Find and Replace | Reverse Incremental Search from the menu.

  2. Place the cursor at the location you want to begin searching and enter the character you want to search.
