Cache Options

This topic focuses on information that may be unfamiliar to you. It does not include all step and field descriptions.

To set cache options

  1. Click | Options (ALT+T+O) and select Database | Cache.

  2. Review the following for additional information:

    Volatile Cache

    Description

    Current in-memory size

    Displays the memory cached for your current session.

    Maximum in-memory size

    Enter the maximum memory to cache for your current session.

    Default: 10 MB

    Enable cache overflow to disk

    Allow cache to be stored in persistent cache (to disk) if you exceed the maximum in-memory size.

    Default: Cleared

    Object Annotation CacheDescription

    Private folder

    Saves the following information to an XML file on the client:

    Share object annotations

    Creates a Microsoft Access database named QuestShared.mdb to store shared notes and lookup tables between users.

    Share hidden column settings

    Shares any hidden columns of data with other users.

    Notes: 

    • Object Annotation Cache does not save the actual objects, Query Builder files, ER diagrams, or data files associated with the notes, lookup tables, or hidden columns. You can share projects that contain objects and files by specifying a Network Share location. See Network Share Options for more information.
    • To use shared annotation cache, users must have access to the objects or files.
