Desktop Options

Use these options to save current desktop sessions in Toad that are automatically restored at startup.

Note: This topic focuses on information that may be unfamiliar to you. It does not include all step and field descriptions.

To set desktop options

1. Click | Options (ALT+T+O) and select Environment | Desktop Configurations.

2. Review the following for additional information:

   Available desktop configurations	Select a desktop configuration from the list, and then select configuration settings to include in this configuration. You can modify configuration settings for each desktop configuration in the list.
   Desktop configuration settings	Select a checkbox beside the settings you want to save when exiting.
   Save configuration when leaving it	Automatically saves a configuration when you exit Toad or switch to another session. Default: Selected
   Toolbars and menu customizations	Allows different toolbars and menus to display in open sessions. Default: Selected default config
   Docked tool windows	Saves any tool windows along with the session. Default: Selected
   Open connections	Restores any connections that were open when you started Toad. Default: Debug
   Close already open connections	Closes any connections that were not used in this session when you restart Toad or switch sessions. Default: Cleared
   Open documents	Restores any documents that were open from your last session. Note: If selected, this option overrides the following options: Action to perform on startup option. See General Environment Options for more information. Open on new connection option. See General Database Options for more information.
   Close already open documents	Closes any document windows that were not used in this session when you restart Toad or switch sessions. Default: Debug
   Debugger properties	Restores watches and breakpoints from your last session. Default: Selected
   Always use default desktop configuration on startup	Opens the default configuration when starting Toad. If this checkbox is cleared, the open session when you exited Toad is restored at startup. Default: Selected

Tips:

• To navigate to the directory where option settings are stored, click the Application Data Directory link in the About dialog (Help | About).

• To search for a partial or complete option name or value, use the Search field at the bottom of each Options page. See About Options for more information.

• To switch desktop configurations, save the current configuration, create a configuration, or drop a configuration, use the Desktop Configuration toolbar.
• To reset all configuration settings, click Reset to Default.
