Set Up Toad Security

Use Toad Security to limit functionality that is currently available in Toad, based on the database connection.

To set up Toad security

  1. Select Tools | Administer | Toad Security from the menu.

    Note: It this menu option does not display, use the Customization window to add Toad Security to the menu or toolbar. See Customize Toolbars and Menus for more information.

  2. Review the following for additional information:

    Credential type

    Select one of the following security levels to set:

    • Client—Limits functionality based on the user name used when logging into the client computer.

    • Server—Limits functionality based on the user name used when logging into the database server.

    • Role—Limits functionality based on defined roles. Client and server user name security can belong to multiple roles. The roles themselves can further limit functionality.

    Name

    Enter the user name or role for which you want to set security.

  3. If this is your first time to set up security, you must define server side objects. See Define Server Side Objects for more information.
  4. Select the Restricted checkbox beside each function you want to limit. You can also right-click to restrict or enable all functionality.

  5. Click .
