A snapshot is a binary file that stores parameters and objects associated with a database in an offline file. This prevents you from having to make repeated connections to the database to change project settings. Snapshots contain the date and time they were created so creating snapshots at regular intervals can provide a history of the database. You can maintain regular snapshots of the database, and then compare two snapshots or a snapshot against the current database.

To create a snapshot
Right-click a database in the Object Explorer and select Get Schema Snapshot.
Complete the wizard.
Tip: To see a snapshot, click Open in Snapshot Viewer in the last page of the wizard or open file from the disk.
