Define General Conversation Properties

Define conversation properties for a new conversation or move an existing conversation to another conversation group.

To define general conversation properties

  1. Select Conversations from a SQL Server instance.

  2. Create or edit a conversation.

  3. Review the following for additional information:

    Initiating service

    Select the service to initiate the conversation.

    Target Service

    Select the target service.

    GUID target SB

    Enter the GUID for the database that hosts the target service.

    Contract

    Specify the contract for the conversation.

    Related Group

    Select this option to associate the new window to the conversation group with this related conversation group ID.

    If you specify an id that does not exist, the Service Broker creates a new conversation with the specified ID and relates this window to it.

    Related Conversation

    Select this option to associate the new Dialog to the conversation with this conversation handle.

    Timeout

    Enter the amount of time (in seconds) to wait before sending the timer message.

To move a conversation to a different group

  1. Select Conversations from a SQL Server instance.

  2. Click on the Overview tab toolbar.

  3. Modify the conversation group ID in the Conversation Group field.
